Article Contributed By: Helen Hansen The relationship between mind and skin is a complex one. Scientific research is only recently beginning to reveal the link between emotions and skin disorders. Our first experience of our skin is the contact we have (or don't have) with our mother. This forms the foundation for the child's feelings and understanding about the self and the environment. Little wonder that the skin has a strong emotional connection. And let us remember that the skin is the largest organ of the body.
While some skin and hair issues may have a physiological component, all have an emotional ingredient. Think of how embarrassment shows itself with blushing and anxiety is displayed by the secretion of sweat. Stress is one of the leading factors for skin conditions. When the immune system is impaired certain skin issues are extremely challenging to heal. Post traumatic stress is often revealed on the skin as a memory that needs to be cleared. Skin disorders such as eczema, rashes or itching can be linked to the individual wanting to do one thing but feeling compelled to do another. Internally, they may have an 'itching' to follow their heart yet externally they follow society, authority figures or misperceptions of their own mind. In an online article, https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4128841/ , case studies revealed that when the individuals cleared emotional blockages then their skin began to heal. Dr. John Demartini, human behaviour specialist explains that when we hold on to our emotions, past or present, we distort our vision which instantly affects our experiences, quality of life and blocks the pathway to manifesting the life we desire. Psoriasis, eczema, scleroderma, skin cancer, skin lesions, scars and other skin conditions all indicate a disruption of the flow of communication between one or more systems in the body as well as on an etheric level. When these disturbances are released, then the harmony in the whole being is once again restored allowing the body to self-heal and rejuvenate itself. Such a process can take time and can be compared to a snake when it sheds layers of its skin no longer necessary. If you are uncomfortable in your skin or if your skin is reacting in any way this is a clear message that something in your life needs to be addressed. This can be on an emotional, physical, mental or spiritual level. A gentle, non-invasive method to clear blockages and balance the body is the process of kinesiology. Kinesiology uses muscle testing to determine where imbalances originate in the body and mind. Specific energy balancing techniques are then implemented to restore the body to the point where it can self-heal. There are thousands of harmonising techniques in kinesiology many of which include the skin. Psoriasis, eczema, acne and skin lesions have all received positive results with kinesiology treatment. After 8 years of various therapies, medication and various doctors, kinesiology treatment facilitated the turnaround with an 11 year olds eczema. The girl said that the sessions helped the burning on her skin decrease and subsequently her skin felt more comfortable. A man in his 30's had been struggling with psoriasis for most of his life. Kinesiology helped to clear emotional trauma which resulted in a clearing on his skin. A teenage girl's acne condition was largely lessened by pin pointing the diet most suited for her skin type. After following the plan for six weeks the teenager's acne was mostly cleared. Kinesiology can be experienced in person or online. Distance sessions incorporate a surrogate for the muscle testing. In most cases the surrogate is the facilitator. After an extremely stressful few years, especially the last few months, I have experienced an outbreak of shingles. My husband has been dealing with psoriasis. We are perfect examples of the link between the mind and skin conditions. We think we can handle anything that comes our way, but I guess it has to manifest itself somehow. Thank you for the informative article, it was enlightening.
