Women Entrepreneurs Becoming Force in the Developing World
You may not have heard of the "third billion," but you may one day feel their impact. The third billion is a term used to describe the billion women, mostly from emerging markets, who will join the global economy as employees, employers and entrepreneurs over the next decade. From India to Turkey, women entrepreneurs are on the leading edge of this shift, poised to transform their local economies and, in doing so, change the world.
The Global Push to Unlock the Potential of Women Entrepreneurs
Across the developing world, women own and operate an estimated 10 million small and midsized enterprises, yet they are underrepresented as business owners and underserved by banks and government policy makers. "Women are the most underutilized economic asset in the world’s economy," says Angel Gurría, the secretary-general of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. But their diminished status seems poised for change.

Ellevate
Ellevate helps women succeed in three ways: Connect – Networking has been called the number one unwritten rule of success in business. Who you know leads directly to what you know, and your next business opportunity is likely to come from your network. Connecting with other professional women is a proven way to raise your professional profile (and have fun while doing so). See our network of accomplished members here and the cities in which we have chapters here.
Learn – Many professional women describe themselves as life-long learners. And in turn, our members have a great deal of experience and expertise that they share with the network. We provide this knowledge through in-person events in cities around the world, our highly rated “Jam Sessions” (twice weekly webinars) and our member articles and videos.
Invest – We believe in the ability to catalyze change through investment. We put our money into action, channeling real capital to companies that are leaders in gender diversity.
Members invest in themselves through joining the network, and companies invest in their women through partnerships with Ellevate. A portion of the network’s revenues is invested in the Pax Ellevate Global Women’s Index Fund, which is the only mutual fund that invests in the top-rated companies in the world for advancing women; thus, by joining the network, our members help us invest in other women.

ACE Women’s Network
The ACE Women’s Network is a national system of networks within each state, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia with the goal of advancing and supporting women in higher education. Each state network is led by a state coordinator who works with institutional representatives and at least one presidential sponsor to develop programs that identify, develop, encourage, advance, link, and support (IDEALS) women in higher education careers within that state.
The state networks are linked to one another through their connection with the Inclusive Excellence Group and the ACE Women’s Network Executive Council, a group of senior women executives from across the country who serve as both mentors to the state coordinators and as advisers to ACE on the overall functioning of the ACE Women’s Network. State coordinators also benefit from the mentorship and advice from college and university presidents and chancellors who have agreed to serve as presidential sponsors.

Women’s Irish Network
They decided to call the organisation the Women’s Irish Network as they felt that WIN had a good ring to it, but we also agreed to be inclusive and accept members who were not necessarily Irish – it was enough that they wanted to be Irish.
The first event was a breakfast, with keynote speaker James Dyson of vacuum cleaner fame. Later that same year, one of the highlights of WIN’s history occurred when President Mary McAleese came to speak to us over a lunch.
A number of years have now passed since the joyful birth of WIN, there have been great events and wonderful camaraderie and between us all we have raised over £390,000 for the Irish youth

Womens Travel Network
It’s not always easy to coordinate travel with a companion. Womens Travel Network was founded to help others experience the fascination of travel, the exploration, the connection, the growth, the sense of accomplishment, and the joy. Our guests are women between the ages of 40 to 60, though some are younger or older. They are single, widowed, divorced or married but enjoy a separate vacation from their spouse. Many women come on their own – instead of solo travel, these women enjoy the camaraderie and security of being with a group. Other guests come with a friend, some with a group of friends, some with a relative – you may meet sisters, or a mother and daughter. Guests tend to share common interests, and are open to new people and ideas. Friendships that develop on a trip may last for years.
