Does the underworld really exist under the pyramids of Giza? If we look at ancient texts written thousands of years ago, we will find incredible details of a long - lost world hidden under our feet. The mysterious and fantastic structures of the Egyptian pyramids and Sphinx never fail to amaze us! Interesting facts and theories that are hidden from history books and the world’s society are definitely worth notice and have to be investigated even further! Pliny, historian of ancient Rome, mentioned an enigmatic tomb with treasures and secret knowledge under the statue of Sphinx. Later, Herodotus described a mysterious labyrinth, not far from Giza, in the Faiyum Oasis. Calling it an "endless wonder”, he stated that it had more than a thousand rooms and subterranean chambers. Another author, Al'Massudi (10th century), wrote about mysterious "mechanical figures" that stood as security guards, not allowing anyone to enter underground passages located in the Great Pyramid area. Consistent with a great number of historical statements, the Sphinx represents the real main entrance to the Great Pyramid. Even on maps from a century ago, worked out by Freemasons, the Sphinx was an ornament crowning an underground hall, connected to all pyramids by radially diverging corridors. Numerous outstanding discoveries in 1935 provided confirmation of the presence of additional passages and rooms that permeated the area where the pyramids were located. The complex in Giza indicated that it was not built by accident; its unified structure, including the Sphinx and other structures, connected its underground and terrestrial parts into an inseparable whole. Some researchers consider that a big city exists inside a huge branched system of natural caves under the Giza Plateau, which diverges eastward near Cairo. Its main entrance begins inside the statue of the Sphinx with carved stone steps that lead to the lower cave under the stone bed of the Nile. On the report of Dr. Selim Hassan (1935), archaeological discoveries at Giza resulted in finding underground roads, temples, sarcophagi and one city with perfect and extensive planning, and also indicated that the whole complex was carefully organized for a specific purpose. In connection with the excavations and contemporary space observation methods, on the one hand, and the traditions of the ancient Egyptian mystery schools, which called for keeping the secret knowledge hidden at the Giza Plateau, on the other, the passions around these events were running really high. Be that as it may, the most striking side of these discoveries in Giza is the stern denial of their existence by the authorities of Egypt. They explained the revealed voids and chambers very simply: they are dried underground riverbeds or mines, from where the material for the construction of pyramids and sphinxes had been taken. “All our excavations did not find any underground passages or halls, temples, grottoes or anything like that, except for one temple adjoining the statue of the Sphinx”-, the authorities said. However, not long ago, the public was officially notified that there was no temple near the statue of the Sphinx. The affirmations that the area around the Sphinx and the pyramids was thoroughly examined were refuted when a temple was found there. It seems that for reasons beyond the limits of the official policy, there is some level of restrictions intended to protect mysterious findings.
