John Kohler started his gardening journey in 1995 when he started eating a diet of mostly fruits and vegetables to heal from complement immune deficiency which was the reason he almost lost his life due to spinal meningitis according to his doctor. The focus of his research has been in the area of obtaining the highest level of health.  He determined 15 years ago that he needed to grow his own food to have the highest quality and widest diversity of food as the agriculture industry was designed to maximize profits not nutritional quality of the food that it produces. He started teaching gardening online in 2009 on Youtube.

John is now the most popular garden teacher online and is followed by 350,000 people. He puts out new videos every 3-4 days to help inspire and teach people how to grow their own food. ​​
