ASPARTAME: A WOLF IN SHEEPS CLOTHING

Surrounded in controversy since it was discovered accidently in 1965, Aspartame, a highly toxic artificial sweetener which was known to cause brain cancer was, after what appears to be a lot of pressure from interested parties and the government, eventually granted full clearance in 1983 by the FDA and concluded safe to use. The addition of Aspartame into food products, especially in carbonated drinks, could now be legitimately marketed as a healthy alternative to sugar for calorific intake under the trade names of NutraSweet, Equal and Crystal Light.
Even though brain cancer was just the tip of the iceberg, the manipulation of flawed research studies, both in humans and animals around the early and mid-1970’s allowed Aspartame to slip under the radar and has been poisoning people ever since.

With over 10,000 products worldwide containing this highly toxic chemical, evidence has proved that Aspartame is the probable causing factor in the increase of most neurological disorders, Multiple Sclerosis, Lupus, Grand Mal Seizures, Brain Tumors, Cancers and many more disorders of the body’s nervous system since it’s allowed usage from 1983 and, is responsible for over 75% of cases recorded as an ‘adverse reaction to food’ which are reported to the FDA on a regular basis.

A documentary released in 2006; ‘Aspartame Sweet Misery: A Poisoned World’ by Cori Brackett, who herself was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2002, highlights how this artificial sweetener has been allowed to seep into over 10,000 food products with little consequence of the damage it is doing to people. With testimonials from those whose lives have been drastically affected by this ‘approved product’ and open and honest interviews with several Dr.’s and researchers who fully believe the product is poison, it beggars’ belief that it is still being marketed as ‘legally safe to use’, when in actual fact it is silently killing us. In Cori’s case, in the search for her own truth, she got better after researching and cutting aspartame from her diet.

At one point in the documentary Cori interviews Diane Fleming, convicted of murdering her husband who died of a brain bleed due to methanol poisoning, methanol is one of the chemical compounds in aspartame and is particularly nasty as it is turned into formaldehyde, basically an embalming fluid, as the body tries to metabolize it. She currently is serving a 50 year sentence for 1st degree murder and ‘adulteration of a substance’. Her story is just one of many.

It would seem that for political and financial reasons, aspartame has been given full approval and complicity to damage our health and lives. Whilst it still continues to be legitimately marketed as a healthy alternative to sugar in disorders like obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease the only ‘sweet’ thing this product is responsible for… is lining the pockets of those who manufacture it. There is also undisputed evidence to show the aspartame causes carbohydrate cravings and weight gain…..

If the governing agencies, whose role is to protect are failing to do so, we must be more aware of what is going into our food, always read the labels. We are responsible for what we put into our mouths, it might take a little extra effort to put our foot down with products like aspartame, but the positive far outweighs the negative. Choosing natural over artificial is the healthier option any day. There are many alternatives to sweeteners, try raw honey, syrup, fruits, nuts and full fat natural yogurts.

Try making homemade foods, I personally find cooking quite meditative it’s my part of the day where I can ‘switch off’ and produce a yummy homemade healthy meal.

If you are struggling to get inspired, a good dietician will help to educate in swapping unhealthy food habits for healthier options.

If you want more information on the dangers of aspartame I have shared some links including the link for Cori’s documentary. That for me was a real eye-opener and just the nudge needed to take more control over my health.

Thanks for a nice article. Actually nowadays the food poison is the main issue for kids sickness.
Just some days before. My cousin. She is very little. And from the beginning she just eat, fast-food, drinks, cola, chocolate, And now she is so sick. And doc is saying she has a stomach disease. She has always pain in her belly.

I am sharing a article about:

Crisps
High in salt, and likely to fill your baby up, leaving less room for more nutritious foods. Babies should only have a very small amount of salt (less than 1g a day)

Food swap: plain rice cakes or breadsticks.

burger and cheese

Fast food
Burgers, takeaway pizzas and deep-fried foods are high in salt and sugar, not to mention saturated fat, and aren't suitable for babies. By making your own, healthier versions, you have complete control over the ingredients.

Food swap: see our mum and baby easy-to-prepare meals.
lasagne ready meal
3 / 13
Ready meals
Supermarket ready meals and other convenience foods are for adults, and tend to be high in salt and fat. Check the label: high salt levels are more than 1.5g salt per 100g (or 0.6g sodium). Low salt levels are 0.3g salt or less per 100g (or 0.1g sodium).

Food swap: try our recipe for cheese and peas orzo, or make salmon, broccoli and potato pie, cool and pop portions in the freezer to defrost when you need them.
camembert cheese
4 / 13
Soft, mould-ripened cheeses
It's best not to feed your baby these types of cheeses if he's under a year, as they carry a risk of a type of a type of food poisoning called listeriosis. The same goes for soft, blue-veined varieties.

Food swap: cubes of cheddar or edam are great sources of calcium.
boiled and chewy sweets
5 / 13
Sweets
Loaded with sugar, which attacks babies' tooth enamel. Chewy toffees and pastilles are the worst of the bunch, as they stick to teeth. Hard sweets also carry a risk of choking. If your baby does eat a sweet, make sure he has a piece of cheese or some milk to follow, to help neutralise the sugars.

Food swap: raspberries, melon chunks and halved strawberries go down well and also contain vitamin C and other nutrients. Puree or mash fruit for a young baby, or cut into small chunks for an older baby. Always stay near to your baby while he's eating.
glass of cola
6 / 13
Soft drinks
The acidity of these drinks can damage your baby's emerging teeth. As well as high levels of sugar and artificial sweeteners, some also contain caffeine, which can build up in babies' bodies, causing them to be wakeful, restless or irritable.

These drinks contain none of the nutrients that your baby needs.

Drink swap: water and breastmilk or formula milk are the best drinks for your baby until he's a year old.
mixed whole nuts
7 / 13
Whole nuts
Children under five shouldn't eat whole nuts because of the risk of choking. However, nuts can be a useful weaning food as peanut butter, or if cut into very small pieces. Just ask your GP before you offer your baby peanuts if you have a family history of allergies.

Food swap: try small pieces of ripe avocado or hummus with rice cakes.

chips
8 / 13
Chips
Deep-fried chips contain a lot of saturated fat. Too many of them will fill your baby up and leave less room for higher-energy foods.

If you decide to give your baby chips, choose oven-baked over fried.

Food swap: try mashed potato or mashed sweet potato.
breakfast cereal with marshmallows
9 / 13
Sugary breakfast cereals
A teeth-damaging way to start the day. You may be surprised to hear that many breakfast cereals also contain high levels of salt, so always check the label.

Food swap: depending on your baby's age, try baby rice, wholewheat bisks or porridge for a healthy start to the day.
iced doughnuts
10 / 13
Cakes and doughnuts
Iced cakes and doughnuts are low in nutrients and high in sugar and saturated fat, which may make your baby overweight if he eats them regularly, as well as damage his teeth. Try to keep cakes and biscuits for special occasions only.

Food swap: mashed banana, rice cakes, breadsticks or sugar-free rusks.
chargrilled swordfish
11 / 13
Shark, swordfish or marlin
Granted, they may not be on your weekly shopping list, but these varieties of fish may contain high levels of mercury, so aren't safe for babies to eat.

Food swap: oily fish is a great source of protein and omega-3 oils. Try small pieces of cooked salmon, or mini sardine and cream cheese sandwiches.
small coffee with frothy milk.
12 / 13
Coffee and tea
Any caffeinated drink is unsuitable for your baby. Don't be tempted to add tea to your baby's bottle to warm his milk. The tannin in tea may prevent him
